Our winery

On 23rd May 1524 Niccola di Andrea Capponi bought Villa Calcinaia and it has been the country home of Counts Capponi ever since. In particular, Villa Calcinaia comprises approximately 215 hectares of land, characterised by expanses of vineyard, olive trees and woodland. Thirty hectares of vineyards that produce wines internationally recognised, praised and enjoyed since the beginning of the 20th century.

Over the last 30 years, the Capponi family have continuously invested into their wine making activities in order to improve the quality of their production, while always bearing in mind the ties of the “terroir” and its respected traditions. As a result, Villa Calcinaia have been using organic farming since 2000.

The offer includes wines such as: D.O.C.G. Chianti Classico; Chianti Classico Riserva; Casarsa, a renowned I.G.T. Super Tuscan of Merlot grapes; the rose wine Rosato.

Hospitality is the flagship of the Capponi family: at Villa Calcinaia the company lives every day the pleasure of welcoming guests who want to drink, learn, enjoy and understand its wines. They can visit the vineyards and the wine cellar, surrounded by the peace of the Tuscan countryside.
